Welcome! The Honors Program at Mount Union provides strong students with special opportunities for scholarship, social connection, and community service.
The transfer admissions and advising process for Honors at Mount Union is holistic. Admitted students typically bring a GPA of 3.5 or higher but we consider all factors in a student’s application materials that can shed light on aptitude, intellectual curiosity, and work ethic. Likewise, we help admitted applicants choose which Honors track is right for them, and chart a course through remaining requirements for that track, through conversation with the student as well as transcript review. We are happy to facilitate your contact with faculty in our academic departments and to answer any questions that you may have for us along the way.
Honors tracks (choose one or both)
- University Honors allows you to complete your remaining Integrative Core requirements (general education) in Honors-specific courses populated by Honors peers. University Honors students enjoy many benefits and perks.
- Honors in the Major allows you to earn distinction for going beyond the basic requirements within your major. Honors in the Major can be earned by completing an additional project in three courses within the major or by completing an Honors in the Major Thesis. Both the three-project option and the thesis option require proposals created by the student in collaboration with supervising faculty in that major. Honors in the Major begins with an HM application and can be undertaken at any point in a student’s undergraduate career, provided that enough time for completing the three projects or thesis remains and faculty in the major support the student’s application.
