My Career
As an undergraduate student, I majored in Mathematics and minored in Databased Management in Computer Science. I knew I loved numbers, but I did not know what I wanted to do. One summer, I did an internship in data analytics. I loved it and knew that this was the career for me. I decided that I needed to pursue an MBA to get more knowledge of business as I began to look towards starting my career.
After only one year in the MBA program, I was able to leverage my experience in my graduate work to help me get a position in my field. I was a first-time job candidate, I did not have the years of on-the-job experience that more senior candidates had. However, my continued experiences in the MBA program have allowed me to be competitive in the job market, which brought me several offers, and helped me to land a position with a fantastic company. I know opportunities like these will continue to grow as I finish up the degree and continue my career.
With being in such early stages of my career, my longterm goals are ever changing. A year ago, I simply wanted to find a way to get into the world of business analytics. Now, I have achieved that goal and am looking forward to seeing where the future will take me. Only halfway through the program, and it has helped me further realize my career goals and meet them. I am sure this next year will bring even greater levels of growth.
Why Mount Union?
When I found out Mount Union was offering a business analytics concentration in the MBA program, I knew this was the right fit! This track has been perfect considering my previous mathematical knowledge because it has taught me how to apply it, and where it fits in a business. I have learned so much, and it came with the additional bonus of getting to play one more year of the sport I love! I was able to begin pursuing my masters degree and play on the women's lacrosse team at Mount for a fifth year by using the eligibility I got back from COVID.
I would recommend this program, because the curriculum is designed to get a great mix of educational content as well as create great connections with people involved in the program. I feel as though I have created connections with my peers, mentor, and professors, which I believe will be a great network of professionals and friends in years to come.
