I am in my 18th year as a public school teacher. My area of certification is K-12 music. I am pursuing my Master's in Educational Leadership because I am always eager to improve my teaching capabilities and to provide myself with job flexibility.
Choosing Mount
I chose Mount Union because, having worked and lived so close to the university for nearly two decades, I am aware of the high caliber of the institution. Mount Union has a terrific reputation. Its proximity to my home and place of work were also considerations.
Mount Union Difference
I would recommend this program to others for primarily three reasons: 1) The helpful and knowledgeable faculty 2) The ease and convenience of the online format 3) The carefully created curriculum. The convenience and quality of Mount’s Master's in Educational Leadership set the program apart.
Educational Leadership in Action
I have been able to implement the leadership skills I have developed on almost a daily basis. Along with the dozens of practical skills and techniques, I have also gained perspective that allows me to be a more compassionate, understanding educator and colleague. Additionally, I believe that the information and experiences from my internship have also benefitted my classroom and, hopefully, offered a new perspective to my school and district.
Career Goal
I decided to earn the educational leadership degree primarily because I just wanted to be a better teacher. However, knowing that I have other employment opportunities in the field of education is reassuring. The field of education is changing, and I believe that this degree puts me in a great position to work and adapt to the evolving environment.
What do you spend your summer break doing?
During summer break I enjoy completing DIY projects around the house and chasing after my three children. I also enjoy traveling as a family.
