Mount Union Prepares for 172nd Baccalaureate Ceremony with Bishop Tracy S. Malone
April 26, 2018ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union will host its 172nd Baccalaureate service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 in the Peterson Field House of the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex (MAAC), preceding the University’s Commencement Ceremony, which begins at 1:30 p.m.
Bishop Tracy S. Malone, the current resident bishop to the East Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church, will deliver the service’s message. Malone, a graduate of North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, provides spiritual oversight, shares in teaching outreach, mission, witness and service and serves as a shepherd of the United Methodist Church. She served in several churches before taking on her current role, the last of which was at Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton, Illinois. She is also a graduate of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and the United Theological Seminary.
In addition to serving as the resident bishop to the East Ohio Conference, Malone is the current president of the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women, a member of the Board of Trustees at the United Methodist-affiliated colleges, seminaries and organizations in East Ohio and serves on the Board of Directors of the Connectional Table of The United Methodist Church.
Following the Baccalaureate ceremony, Susan (Pelini ’86) McGalla, former public company CEO and business owner, will give the 172nd Commencement address at 1:30 p.m. in the Peterson Field House in the MAAC.
