Mount Union’s Margo Miller Work Selected For National Exhibit

July 16, 2021

Margo Miller, associate professor of art at the University of Mount Union recently had a painting accepted into the Butler Institute of American Art’s 85th National Midyear Art Exhibit in Youngstown, Ohio.

Miller’s work, “Wahalla Plateau #1” joins other works from across the country.  The Exhibit includes oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, drawings, prints, photographs and digital pieces.

“My painting was created Spring 2020 during a sabbatical,” Miller said. “Finding the abstraction in the landscape was central to my original proposal, as was the Surrealist technique Automatism. This painting was a result of the merging of the two processes.”

Miller, who is the current Dr. Robert T. and Phyllis S. White Endowed Chair in Art, has been with the University of Mount Union since 2004. Miller graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and Kent State University with a Master of Fine Arts degree before beginning her professional career.

The annual midyear juried show at the Butler Institute is judged this year by artist Paul Ching-Bor. The show runs July 18 through September 5.
