A bachelor’s degree in art provides students with the essential skills, tools, and resources to be successful in their chosen careers. As an art major, you can choose between concentrations in studio, graphic design, art history, or education.
Both art majors and students from other majors have the opportunity to display their work during the Student Art Exhibit in the Sally Otto Gallery. Additionally, The Eels Art Center, where most art classes are taught, includes painting studios, rooms for printmaking, sculpture, and drawing. The space also includes computer labs with software for graphic design and production.
Students can earn a bachelor's degree in music with a concentration in music performance and music composition. There is also the option to study in music without a concentration, which can then be combined with a host of other degrees or minors to target your specific career path.
Music education majors pair music history, theory, and basic musicianship with education courses to prepare students to work with children from grades K-12.
Mount Union's Department of Performing Arts provides music majors, as well as non-majors, the opportunity to perform with a number of ensembles in four areas: choir, orchestra, piano and band and instrumental music.
As a theatre major you can emphasize your degree by completing one of three tracks: design/technical, musical theatre, or performance. The major is structured to provide students with a broad foundation of theatre and give the opportunity to focus on what interests them.
All students, regardless of major, have the opportunity to participate in theatre productions throughout the academic year.
The Giese Center, where most productions are held, provides enhanced and expanded space to showcase the talent here at Mount Union. The space includes the Brush Performance Hall and Gallher Black Box Theatre, as well as a green room, scene shop, costume shop and dressing rooms.
