Nothing lasts for 175 years without overcoming some hurdles along the way. Whether the issues be on a local or global scale, there have been many unique ways in which the Mount Union community has come together to address some of the difficult challenges of nearly the past two centuries. Below are simply a few of the challenges presented to the campus community over the years in which progress has and continues to be made.
175th Anniversary | Overcoming Challenges

The area known as "White Hollow" served as living spaces for married veterans following World War II. The 1947 Unionian called it, "an answer to a prayer."

Addressing the needs of food insecurity across the campus community, Raiders Cove opened in 2019 as a resource center focused on helping students with needs including food, hygiene items, clothes, and more. It is located in King Hall with the entrance facing the Quad.

To help with the anxiety of final exams, Mount Union introduced programming to help with students' mental health. One such offering is bringing therapy dogs to campus during that time.

Addressing the challenges facing the Alliance and surrounding communities, the MLK Day of Service has been taking place at Mount Union for more than a decade. Each year, hundreds of student, faculty, and staff volunteer their time to assist local nonprofits with projects to uplift the community.
