ALLIANCE- Inspired by his uncle, a mechanical engineer, Joey Valeri ’25, mechanical engineering major, is building a skillset, implementing class concepts to real world situations. This summer, Valeri held an internship with Hammond Construction where he helped execute a project with Green Elementary School.

“My favorite part about my internship was the professional connections I made, as well as seeing the process of how fast these school buildings really get built,” said Valeri.

Valeri’s favorite part of attending Mount Union are the professor-to-student relationships he has built with his professors. One of those relationships is the one he holds with Dr. Chad Korach, associate professor in the School of Engineering. Valeri explains that Korach has helped him achieve his academic goals, such as applying for and accepting intern positions.

“After graduation, I see myself working for a company that works alongside the U.S. Government to build military supplies such as planes, missiles, and advanced weapons systems,” said Valeri.

Like Valeri, who is networking with experts in the engineering field, there are many other students taking advantage of every opportunity offered to them at Mount Union.
