Meeting Industry Demand, Mount Union Announces New MBA Concentrations in Healthcare, Communication

February 21, 2024

ALLIANCE — The University of Mount Union is pleased to announce two new concentrations in its online Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program: strategic healthcare administration and corporate communication and public relations

The addition of these two concentrations is reflective of Mount Union’s established strength in both allied health and business at the undergraduate level, as well as the early success of the graduates of its MBA program. These programs also recognize the need for leaders in these industries, especially in Ohio.

These concentrations join the foundational offerings of Mount Union’s MBA program in business analytics and leadership and innovation. Since the program’s inception, it has been designed with working professionals in mind to offer flexibility in its asynchronous, seven-week course format. It was also recently named a top online MBA program in Ohio by U.S. News and World Report for 2024.

“I am so proud of our team at Mount Union. Leading a new MBA program and being able to collaborate with my colleagues to create additional opportunities for our students has been exciting in this ever-changing market,” said Dr. Wendy Ziems-Mueller, director of Mount Union’s MBA program and associate professor of management and leadership. “Working with faculty from our other disciplines shows a clear commitment to interdisciplinary, liberal arts education while emphasizing the real-life skill development necessary for MBA graduates. Strategically implementing new curricula and concentrations will benefit future Mount Union alumni and our community long into the future.”

“I enjoy the practicability of Mount Union's MBA program. You are able to work a full-time job, have a family, and study when it suits you. The subjects are geared towards you, and the faculty support you along the way,” said Mechelle Weyand M'24, associate project manager at Gojo Industries and student in Mount Union’s MBA program.

All four concentrations in Mount Union’s MBA degree program are approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Higher Learning Commission. The program is housed in the University’s School of Business, which offers several undergraduate programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

Mount Union’s MBA program offers rolling admission with start dates in May, August and January. To learn more about the programs and apply in time for the May start, visit mountunion.edu/mba.
