Mount Union Names Crews, Luca as 2020 Outstanding Seniors

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The University of Mount Union is proud to announce Haley Crews ’20, a sociology major of Wellsville, Ohio and William Luca ’20, a computer science, French, international affairs and diplomacy major and national security and foreign intelligence analysis quadruple major, as its Outstanding Seniors for 2020.

Crews has been on the Dean’s List all seven semesters and was the 2019 Homecoming Queen. She was the recipient of the 2019 Carl D. Orwick Fraternal Values Award, 2019 Outstanding Sorority Chapter President Award and was named the Outstanding Sorority Woman for 2019. She has held leadership positions in Alpha Delta Pi, Emerging Leaders, Greek Leadership Institute, Kappa Kappa Psi and the Mount Union Student Senate.

She is also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary, the Honors Program, Marching Band, Order of Omega Honorary, Psi Chi Honor Society, Relay for Life and the Student Alumni Association. She served as the student representative on the Committee on Assessment, Faculty Senate and the University Presidential Search Committee. 

Luca has also been named to the Dean’s List all seven semesters and was the recipient of the Alumni Computer Science and Information Systems Prize, International Student Travel Prize, and the Outstanding Fraternity Chapter President Award. He has held leadership positions in Emerging Leaders, the Mount Union Student Senate, Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and Sigma Iota Rho Honorary. 

He is also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary, Alpha Mu Gamma Honorary, Alpha Phi Omega, French Club, the Honors Program, Honors in the Major, Model United Nations, Pi Sigma Alpha Honorary, Raider Guides, Regula Scholars, Sigma Iota Rho Honorary, Society of Computing Students and Ultimate Club. He served as the student representative on the Campus Life Committee, Curriculum Committee and the University Presidential Search Committee.

Other nominees included Logan Cooper ’20, a sociology major of Cleveland, Ohio, Tobin Huffman ’20, a biochemistry major of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and James Novinc ’20, a marketing and public relations double major of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. 

The winners were announced as part of the virtual edition of its annual Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation.
