A Passion for Dance
In my dance career, I was fascinated with the body and the intricate ways that it worked. I wanted to continue to learn and grow in a new field while still bringing with me all the knowledge I had already gained in the arts. From the students I met to the faculty who took time to speak with me to the amazing facilities, I just got the sense that this was a place where learning was at its core. I appreciated that my voice and thoughts would be valued in class and that the people I'd be learning from would one day become my colleagues. I felt at home right away when I stepped on campus.
Gaining Hands-On Skills at Mount Union
I have only had one clinical experience so far, and it was at an outpatient orthopedic clinic. It was such an eye opening experience, and I was so glad to be challenged every day to try a new skill or be given more responsibility with a patient or simply asked thought-provoking questions. I feel like it was the perfect first real-world experience for me. The amount of support that I was given from professionals was immense, but I was also given the trust to see patients and complete documentation in a manner that a practicing clinician does.
