Students in a Mount Union classroom

Transfer Students

Applying to Mount Union is easy, and transferring is even easier. The Mount Union curriculum is transfer friendly and helps you get the most out of your previously-earned credits. For courses to transfer, they must have been earned at a regionally accredited institution, reflect a grade of "C" or higher, and be in an equivalent program offered by Mount.

  • Application Requirements

A transfer student to the University of Mount Union is defined as student who has been registered for one or more courses at another university, with the exception of a student who was enrolled under the College Credit Plus Program. Consideration for admission as a transfer student requires a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 2.0 (on an A = 4.0 scale; 2.0 = C) at the institution previously attended and documentation of good academic standing and honorable disciplinary standing on the Dean's Evaluation Form.

Students applying for admission as a transfer student to the University of Mount Union will need to:

    • Transfer Student Application for Admission
    • Application essay
    • A minimum 2.0 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale
    • Official high school transcript
    • Official college transcript(s) from all colleges/universities attended
    • Student Standing Evaluation Form, to be completed by the student’s most recent institution to confirm good standing and eligibility for immediate re-enrollment.

If you've already started your admission application, make sure to log in to the Application Portal to check for updates and finalize your application.

    LAURA KOHMANN

    Hometown: Alliance, OH

Major and Minor: Marketing major and psychology minor

Involvements: Vice President of TSO, Member of the student Business Advisory Council, and member of the American Marketing Association

Why I Chose Mount: I chose Mount Union because the faculty and staff at Mount Union made it feel like home to me. Being a transfer student, I was nervous about acclimating to a new school, but Mount Union made me feel like I fit right in. Everyone I talked to when deciding to transfer cared about me and how I felt and never pressured me to choose Mount. They cared about me finding my new home, and I am so glad I chose Mount Union!

Advice: A piece of advice I give to transfer students is not to be scared to try new activities or get involved in new organizations. I was nervous about going on the Wilderness Trip and the Social Responsibility Trip at Mount Union and was unsure if I would enjoy the trips. I loved those trips and made so many new friends by going on these trips. I would have never experienced those amazing opportunities if I let my nervousness take over. So do not be scared and take those leaps and try new activities or organizations!

    Hometown: Perry, OH

Major and Minor: History major and Adolescence to Young Adult Education minor.

Involvements: I am the vice president of my fraternity (Phi Kappa Tau) and a member of the wrestling and tennis teams.

Why I Chose Mount: I chose Mount because of the close community, the prestigious educational experiences, and the great wrestling program.

Advice: My biggest advice to transfer students is to be able to ask for help, going somewhere new isn't always easy, and you don't have to do it alone. Use your resources and the people around you to help direct you through the tough avenues. Mount has people for you who care about you and want to see you succeed. Let these people help you the way they know how, and help you reach the goals you want to reach.

Majors: Marketing and Public Relations double major

Involvements: Alpha Delta Pi (Vice President of Event Management), PRSSA (Public Relations Director), Student Worker (Lifeguard - MAAC)

Why I Chose Mount: I chose Mount because of the tight-knit community and smaller campus size giving me the ability to thrive in my classes and be so involved on campus. When it came to transferring, I was particularly interested in becoming involved and joining student organizations because Mount Union has so many amazing ways to get involved!

Advice: Transferring doesn't have to be as intimidating as it seems! Using the resources Mount Union provides makes it so much easier to develop a better college experience so don't be afraid to do so. Getting involved and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone will help you to create the relationships you have always wanted and deserve when going to college! And finally, always be proud of your accomplishments and experience as a transfer student because transfers rule the school!
