Formed Lasting Friendships
I chose Mount Union due to the sense of community I felt while visiting, and since it was a smaller campus, I figured it would make it easier for me to make new friends ( I was indeed right). That's why it’s hard to pick just one favorite memory from my time at Mount. But one that stands out is when I used to make sushi bake and invite my friends over to my townhouse. We always had such a great time together, and they loved the sushi bake so much that I always had to make extra!
Staying Connected to Mount Union
Being a part of student-led organizations such as the Black Student Union and Sister Circle helped me learn how to work in a team setting and how to compromise. So, I stay up-to-date on everything Mount Union-related by following the University on their social media platforms.
Career Endeavors after Graduating
As an AmeriCorps VISTA, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with youth aged 14-25 to bridge gaps in community services. I’ve mapped local resources to identify unmet needs, guided young people toward behavioral health support and educational opportunities, and led outreach efforts to build trust and raise awareness about available programs. I like providing youth peer support because I know what kind of impact mentorship can have on kids during this period of their lives. Therefore, I hope that I complete my resource mapping project so that it is readily available for my youth clients to use.
