Choosing Physical Therapy
Ultimately, the answer to this is sports. If I couldn't pursue sports for a career, I wanted to pursue a profession that kept me around athletes. Attending physical therapy when I was younger helped me grow an appreciation and a love for the field. After being treated so many times for sport related injuries, I realized this would be a great profession. After gaining experience and time spent in the clinic, I've realized there's so much more to physical therapy than treating athletes. Although that is still my concentration of interest; being able to apply our skills and expertise to help someone return back to their life pain free and as independent as possible is pretty cool.
Fascinating Future
The first thing that caught my eye was the program's 100% employment rate six months after graduation. When prospective students see the consistency in numbers like these from all the graduating cohorts, they know that the program is doing something right, and that was something I wanted to be a part of. One thing that Mount does a little bit differently than every other DPT program is how their interview process. I felt as if they were getting to know the kind of person I was, rather than the student. It has shown over the past two years how this can make a difference. The faculty truly does care for each of us students, and just not in the classroom.
