Becoming a Professor
Working with and getting to know students is my favorite part of being a professor. I enjoy seeing the lightbulb go on when students have worked hard to master a skill and have finally got it! Although I have always enjoyed math, I knew I didn't want to teach high school students....I'm pretty sure that I don't have what it takes to do that. When I discovered that I could teach college students, I was all in!
A Career at Mount Union
The mathematics department has recently started a statistics lab where our students are able to work as consultants to analyze data for area healthcare systems. Though, what I like about Mount Union is that we are all like family. Students and faculty work together in and out of the classroom and it is small enough that relationships can be easily formed. My experience in the math field has allowed me to build on research while implementing this research into my courses. Such as the Fibonacci Sequence.
