A Love for Mount Union

My brother attended Mount Union from 2012-2016, so I got familiar with the campus when we would visit him. When it came time for me to choose a college, I knew that I wanted to attend a campus that was small geographically and in class sizes. I wanted to be a student recognized by face and name and was not just a number on a class roster. Mount Union provided the small class experience that I craved with enough academic and professional opportunities to rival colleges three times its size. I knew that Mount Union was where I needed to be! Leetonia was where I grew up, but Mount Union was where I grew into the person I am today. I went into college with a very strict plan of how my four years were supposed to turn out, but everything quickly derailed when Covid-19 hit just a few weeks into my second semester. I began questioning my initial major, my overall plans, and even some of who I was because so much of my identity hinged on me being a music teacher. After some soul-searching and mind-opening, I changed my major, joined a sorority, and everything fell into place from there. Mount Union is also where I met my fiance, Vinny Camma. When we go back to visit, we always run into friends and make the most out of our time in Alliance.

Career Readiness

While at Mount Union, I had so many wonderful opportunities for personal and professional growth. I am a proud Purple Raider Marching Band alumnus, where I served as section leader for two years and marching band assistant for one. Being section leader helped me grow in my leadership skills, and band camp helped prepare me for managing my time and energy with work events, like the Pyramyd AIR Cup we host every fall. I also had the pleasure of being a sister of Alpha Delta Pi, where I served as the Chapter Foundation Ambassador for 1 year, Inaugural Director of Inclusion for 2 years, and Director of Community Service for 1 year. The Director of Inclusion position allowed me the platform to talk about my experiences growing up with a disability, which gave me the confidence to apply and speak at the National Panhellenic Convention's College Panhellenic Academy in 2022 for "The Talks" on growing up with an invisible disability. Although, I learned a lot from Jeff Neitzke, director of band activities, and Dr. Andrea Ferraro, associate professor of communication. I was able to expand my skills outside of being a band member, like gaining leadership skills and enhancing my photography and videography skills by taking pictures and videos at home football games and band shows thanks to the confidence Jeff gave me. Being a public relations major introduced me to the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) where I learned strategic management skills and was able to expand my connections with alumni and guest speakers in the same field.

Passionate about the PR Field

At Pyramyd AIR, I help plan, create, and post social media content to Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube; scout social media influencers to help promote our brand and products; and I am one of our YouTube stars! Along with these responsibilities, I am learning about Google Ads and Analytics and I help out with lifestyle photography. Being part of many campus organizations during my time at Mount Union helped me attain time management skills, which have been useful in my current role. I love so much about my job. I love my team, learning new things about marketing and social media, finding new ways to accomplish goals, making content, and our emphasis on the love of the outdoors and outdoor recreational activities. Spending time outside has always been something I deeply love, so being able to spend time outside and encouraging others to do the same for a living is a dream! I often spend nice days outside getting social media content when I can, and the fact that I can do that and am encouraged to is one of the best parts of my job!
