Candidates with current Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) credentials may apply for the Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) certificate program. Mount Union also allows you to complete coursework for your MSN FNP degree and ENP certificate simultaneously, enhancing your skill set and career prospects in a streamlined and strategic fashion.

Nurses seeking dual credentials must take the FNP board certification exam before applying for the ENP board certification exam.

Online ENP Certificate Admission Requirements

The Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) certificate is designed for nurses who desire to work in an urgent care or emergency department setting or are currently working there. Completing the ENP certificate allows educational eligibility for the national certification exam as an ENP.

You can complete Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) coursework together at UMU.  

Applicants must complete an application via the Nursing Central Application Service (CAS). Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

  1. Completed a FNP degree or certificate from an accredited program. Official transcripts of all graduate academic work from each college or institution of higher learning attended. 

  2. GPA: A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). *Applicants who do not meet the minimum GPA requirement but whose application contains evidence suggesting strong academic ability may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. 

  3. Verification of a current, unencumbered RN and APRN license and expiration date in the state where the student is licensed, practices, and will be completing practicum hours.  

  4. FNP credentials showing active status should be verified by the certification board (this can be obtained from the AANPCB and ANCC websites).  

  5. A curriculum vitae (CV) or resume.
