Why Mount Union

I loved the feeling of community, the school environment, class sizes and excellent facilities. The University’s reputation is outstanding at the state and national levels.

Unique Advantage

The smaller class sizes at Mount Union allow for greater networking and personal relationships with students and professors. The extracurricular programs are exceptional and have put Mount at the top of NCAA Division III nationally.

First Professional Job

My first professional job was a science teacher and wrestling coach for Perry Local Schools.

Campus Involvement

I was a member of the Mount Union wrestling team and participated in the Dowling Mentors Program.

Preparation for Teaching

The education I received at Mount Union helped prepare me to be a classroom teacher. The networking and relationships established at Mount continue to open doors in my field. My education classes provided me with valuable and pertinent understanding of my field. The professor’s guidance and mock interviews gave me confidence at the beginning of my career.

Lasting Friendships

Many of my closest friends are Mount Union classmates. We’ve vacationed together and visit regularly each year.

Staying Connected

My wife Susan (’94) and I consistently contribute to the alumni fund and attend alumni events when we can. Our oldest daughter, Ellie, is a senior art major at Mount with hopes of becoming a teacher.

Lifetime Goal

My goal is to raise my four children to be caring, happy, responsible and hard-working adults.

Lasting Investment

Not only did I receive a great education that prepared me to be a teacher, Mount Union also afforded me the opportunity to constantly network with talented alumni that I have been in contact with throughout my career. My wife and I have had successful professional careers due to the excellent preparation from Mount.

Favorite Part of Job

I enjoy having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students, families and staff in the Stark County community through education.
