Why Mount Union?
I heard about Mount Union because I was invited to tour by the cross country and track coaches. I chose to come to Mount because the energy of the people here is welcoming and because people are welcoming and there are amazing opportunities that can enhance my academic and professional career. Mount feels like a second home because of the meaningful friendships and relationships I've built here, I have a great support system that makes it easier to be away from home.
Experiential Learning
I have had the opportunity to be a TA for a gender studies class, go on the Mount Union Wilderness Trip and do multiple hands on learning at the Nature Center. Going on the Mount Union Wilderness trip was my favorite experience because I got to do something totally out of my comfort zone and I loved every second of it. Dr. Capuzza has had the biggest impact on my experience. She has helped me plan out my academic journey and career after Mount Union along with helping me build my résumé.
Why Environmental Science
I chose environmental science because I want to focus on the impacts of climate change in my career once I graduate. My ultimate career goal is to work for a non profit organization. Mount is helping me prepare for that by helping me choose the best graduate program that fits my career. One obstacle I’ve had to overcome to get to this point was going to office hours. It can be intimidating to walk into your professors office and ask for help, but all of my professors have always been helpful and they want me to succeed. So, don't be afraid to ask for help or guidance, faculty at Mount Union and the University as a whole want students to be successful.
