Professional Journey after Mount Union
I work at an engineering firm, CT Consultants, as an environmental scientist. I support our ecological department by conducting field investigations of water resources and managing reports for clients. We work mostly with private companies looking to build on properties that have not yet been developed. I love the people that I get to work with on a daily basis. Leaving Mount Union and joining the real world was scary, but joining a field of people who share the same passion as you and can help guide you through your first job experience is very helpful. I hope to eventually earn my Professional Wetland Scientist Certificate (PWS). This would help me become a project manager and add new skills to working within the consulting industry. I also want to be able to lead a team of scientists like myself in projects, so I can work with engineers on projects that can be designed well without negatively impacting the environment too much.
Student-Athletic Career at Mount Union
I was part of the women's swim team, and being captain of the swim team helped me gain teamwork skills, allowing me to work with people with different needs and communication styles. I also gained leadership skills which have been helpful in my position. Though, while I still talk with friends, I try to stay up-to-date with sporting events, specifically Mount Union's swimming team!
Favorite Memory at Mount Union
My favorite memories at Mount Union would have to be the times during my senior year where I was able to play volleyball with my friends on any nice day or the many Mario Party games played in my house. I chose Mount Union because of the family atmosphere I saw within the swim team. I also wanted somewhere that was close to home, but allowed me to feel independent. Mount made it possible for me to pursue my degree while continuing my love for swimming and go home to refresh when needed.
