Becoming a Physician Assistant
I chose to pursue becoming a PA because I wanted to be able to represent women of color in medicine, while fostering conversations about how to provide more accessible care to underserved communities. The PA program allows students to build a strong mindset by having difficult but important conversations in the classroom regarding how to be compassionate and empathetic providers to patients with different views and backgrounds. Through the program I've been able to interact with younger students in high school that come to learn about the role of physician assistants.
Finding a Home Away from Home
I studied my undergraduate career at Mount Union and have continued running track as part of the women's track team. When choosing a PA program, it just felt right and like a no brainer to stay at Mount Union and be a part of this community for another 2 years.
