Two Potential Career Paths
I chose to pursue a degree in psychology because the intro course at Mount Union sparked an excitement in me. I was captivated by the content. Faculty like Dr. Melissa Muller made my experience at Mount Union even more special as she guided me through the program. She was my advisor, helped me with research and work with the K-9 Cognition lab. Pursuing a degree in French was a happy accident because I fell in love with the language. The faculty in the department of world languages encouraged me to further my education in French, giving me the confidence to graduate with a second degree. If you were to tell me that I'd graduate with both a degree in psychology and in French, I would not have believe you.
Mount Union Experience
Choosing to attend Mount Union was easy as I live close to the campus, so I made the decision to commute as a student. I loved the small class sizes and the endless opportunities students can take advantage of. In class, I could ask as many questions as I wanted; faculty really care about your goals. They also challenged me to give my best in anything I did. The networking and leadership skills I gained have helped me in grad school as I've joined student organizations focused on guiding me with my future career.
Life after Mount Union
Upon graduating from Mount Union, I began my journey as a graduate student at Youngstown State University. I am pursuing a Master of Education in School Psychology degree. I chose school psychology because both my parents are educators so, education is. in my blood. I obtained my master's degree in intervention services and currently am pursuing a degree in education specialist. As a graduate student I've had the opportunity to hold an assistantship with faculty from the program, helping them with research and advancing my own research skills.
