I currently work in the compliance consulting space. We are a boutique compliance advisory firm that does work from formation to dissolution and everything in between for hedge funds, broker dealers, and private equity firms. On a day to day basis this means doing testing of their compliance policies, registering these entities with the SEC and FINRA, keeping current on their regulatory filings, and offering general advisory support. It is an interesting mix between finance and law.
Welcoming Campus
I chose UMU because from the moment I stepped on campus I felt like I belonged there. The campus was beautiful, the people friendly, and they offered a liberal arts education that I desired. I love UMU because it gave me the opportunity to succeed. It provided me all the tools necessary to thrive both in law school and the job market. It also gave me memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
Extracurriculars
I played baseball while at UMU and also participated in WRMU. I was also a member of the Chinese club and English clubs. These all helped me form a background that was impressive to potential employers.
Career and Goals
The thing I like best about my job is client servicing. It is interesting learning about how all the different funds and firms out there operate. Being able to navigate their cultures to create a successful relationship is also rewarding. I am currently working my way towards becoming a subject matter expert.
