April 28, 2020

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The University of Mount Union is proud to announce that Logan Cooper ’20, a sociology major of Cleveland, Ohio, and Haley Crews ’20, a sociology and neuroscience double major of Wellsville, Ohio, as its Outstanding Senior Fraternity Man and Woman for 2020.

Cooper, a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity at Mount Union, served its standards board for three years and a term as its community service chair. He was also a Greek Leadership Institute facilitator and a Greek Member Academy intern.

“I oftentimes describe the fraternity and sorority life community as ‘organizations with a soul,’” said Cooper. “We are living, breathing networks of actively engaged young adults who want to make a positive impact on the world and our communities.”

Crews, a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority at Mount Union, served terms as its chapter president and scholarship chair. She has also worked for the executive office of Alpha Delta Pi as an intern, serving on its election committee, small chapter elections committee, and will begin serving as a leadership consultant in July. Crews also served as a Greek Leadership Institute coordinator and attended the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute.

“As a first-generation student, I often have to explain to my family members why I spend so much of my time and resources on my sorority experience, and why I advocate so strongly for this experience for young men and women,” said Crews. “I can advocate for this experience easily because Mount Union does it so well, and our chapters are truly creating the individuals with whom our founders could only dream of sharing their letters and ritual.”
