French, Harold '98 to be Recognized as Regula Award Winners at April 8 Event
March 13, 2025ALLIANCE, Ohio — The University of Mount Union’s Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement is pleased to announce Joe French and Alan Harold '98as the recipients of the Mary Regula Award for Community Service and the Ralph Regula Award for Public Service, respectively. French and Harold will be honored at the Regula Center Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 8, at noon at the Alliance Country Club.

French, whose entire career has been devoted to helping the children of Northeast Ohio, currently serves as the president of Stark County Catholic Schools. Prior to that role, he was the CEO of Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health and was the inaugural executive director of the Early Childhood Education Alliance. He is active throughout Stark County as a graduate of Leadership Ohio and Leadership Stark County and serves on the boards of the Stark County District Library, the YMCA of Greater Stark County, JRC, and the Stark County Bar Association Grievance Committee.
Harold was named Stark County Commissioner in November 2024 after serving as Stark County Auditor for nearly 14 years. He previously served as president of the County Auditor’s Association and received the Richard J. Makowski Award for Outstanding County Auditor in 2022. Harold’s community involvement includes chairing the finance committee of St. Michael Church and School and previously sitting on the boards of St. Joseph Senior Living, Stark County Catholic Schools, Buckeye Council Boy Scouts and the United Way. He is also a graduate of Leadership Stark County and the Leadership Stark County Government Academy.
