Kueter ’25 Presents Research on Female Spies at National Conference

December 17, 2024

BOSTON, Massachusetts — Kate Kueter ’25, a national security and intelligence analysis and French double major of Iowa City, Iowa, earned the opportunity to present research at the 2024 Northeastern Political Science Association’s (NPSA) 56th Annual Conference in Boston in November.

Kueter presented her research on European female spies during the World Wars, shedding light on the overlooked and misrepresented role of women in intelligence. She presented as part of a panel titled “Issues in International and Comparative Politics,” where she collaborated with peers and engaged with an audience.

“The reception of my research at the NPSA Annual Conference was very positive. I received valuable feedback from both peers and professors, many of whom were intrigued by the unique angle of my research,” Kueter said. “Several attendees expressed appreciation for shedding light on the untold stories of women spies, with some even suggesting further avenues of exploration.”

Kueter expressed gratitude to the Mount Union faculty for supporting her journey to the conference, namely Dr. Theresa Davis, professor of history.

“Dr. Davis was extremely supportive throughout the research process. I first created the project in her class on contemporary Europe, and she further helped when I presented at Mount Union’s SCHOLAR Day and Youngstown State’s HATH Conference,” Kueter said. “Dr. Davis helped me refine my research and raise funds to help pay for the experience, and I will be forever grateful for her support.”
