Mount Union Announces Renewal of Investment Alliance Award

March 10, 2025

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The University of Mount Union is pleased to announce the renewal of its Investment Alliance Award for the fall cohorts of 2029 – the current eighth grade class at Alliance City Schools. The program was previously renewed for the fall cohorts of 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028.

The program, which launched in 2014, awards up to 15 full undergraduate tuition scholarships to students ranked in the top 15 of the Alliance High School graduating class. Students in the program are awarded eight consecutive semesters of eligibility unless the undergraduate degree is completed before then. Review of the program takes place annually each spring to determine if the program will continue for the next eligible fall cohort (students enrolled in eighth grade during the spring).

"We are pleased to maintain our collaboration with Alliance Local Schools, offering a Mount Union education to the community's most talented and brightest students," said Gregory L. King, president of the University. “The goal of the Investment Alliance Award program is to keep local talent in the city of Alliance, at which we’ve been successful since the program’s inception.”

In fact, data from the first seven cohorts of Investment Alliance students from Mount Union indicates that of the 69 students enrolled in the program, 91% have either graduated or were enrolled at the time, and 64% of the graduates were still living and working in Alliance.

Several business leaders in the Alliance community, under the organization of the Alliance Area Development, have partnered to offer a special networking and practical experience component of the Investment Alliance Award program. Through this offering, recipients are eligible to seek networking, job shadowing, internship, and mentorship opportunities with professionals in the area.

This award is also predicated upon the assumption that recipients will give back to the City of Alliance during their time as Investment Alliance Award recipients by participating in community service initiatives each semester.
