Mount Union Announces Slate of Black History Month Events
January 27, 2025ALLIANCE — The University of Mount Union is celebrating Black History Month with several events throughout the month of February that are open to the community.
The month starts on Saturday, February 1 with the second annual Alliance for Community and Equity (ACE) Summit, which features several breakout sessions and a keynote address from Dr. Erica Booker, founder of Disrupter University. Educational opportunities, such as two interactive luncheons, will also take place throughout the month. The first features Dr. Latrice Snodgrass presenting “What the Health Are You Talking About?” on Tuesday, February 4, and the second, “Chit Chat Chew,” will be held Thursday, February 20. Both are at 11:15 a.m. in the Newbold Room of the Hoover-Price Campus Center.
Mount Union will also host two professional events for Black History Month. The first is a career expo, also in the University’s Newbold Room, on Tuesday, February 25, from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A professional development day will be held in the University’s Wayne Manzilla Inclusion Center on Thursday, February 27, at 11:15 a.m.
Several engaging and entertaining collaborative events will also take place. These include a Black History Facts Trivia Night on Thursday, February 6, at 7 p.m., an open mic night on Tuesday, February 18, at 7 p.m., and a movie screening on Thursday, February 20, at 7 p.m. All three events will be in the University’s Hoover-Price Campus Center.
Mount Union’s long-standing Black Student Union Fashion Show will hold its 2025 edition on Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Brush Performance Hall of the University’s Giese Center for the Performing Arts.
