Mount Union PA Cohort Participates in Teddy Bear Drive for Akron Children’s Hospital
February 16, 2021AKRON, Ohio — The Class of 2022 in University of Mount Union’s Physician Assistant Studies graduate program recently donated 46 teddy bears to children at Akron Children’s Hospital as part of a charity drive centered around Valentine’s Day.
The effort was led by class president Tiffany Gillen, of Struthers, Ohio, who stated that several students in her cohort have had the opportunity to get firsthand experiences at Akron Children’s Hospital and wanted to give back.
“The idea of collecting teddy bears for Akron Children's Hospital came about after a lot of brainstorming,” Gillen said. “I am a huge philanthropist and wanted to come up with a way for our class to get involved in a COVID-friendly fashion. The children of today are growing up in the most challenging times, taking away some of that sweet innocence. It is important to me that we help in any way we can to bring them joy.”
