Mount Union Recognized as a Voter-Friendly Campus for Fifth Consecutive Time
March 25, 2025ALLIANCE, Ohio — The University of Mount Union has once again been recognized as a “Voter Friendly Campus” for 2025-2026. This marks the fifth time Mount Union has received this designation, placing it among a select group of institutions committed to fostering student voter engagement.
The Voter Friendly Campus initiative, led by the national nonpartisan organizations Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project (CVP) and NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, holds colleges and universities accountable for developing and implementing plans to encourage student participation in elections. Through this initiative, Mount Union has demonstrated its dedication to equipping students with the tools and knowledge necessary to engage in the democratic process.
Mount Union’s selection was based on its efforts to register, educate, and mobilize student voters during the past year. The institution submitted an action plan detailing its strategies for promoting voter engagement, executed initiatives to support student participation in elections, and reflected on the impact of these efforts in a final report. This comprehensive approach underscores the university’s commitment to civic responsibility and democratic involvement.
To maintain its voter-friendly status, Mount Union has hosted debate watch parties and campus events, conducted voter registration drives, and developed educational materials to inform students about the voting process. The university has also continued its tradition of establishing Civic Corners, designated spaces on campus and in the community that provide accessible voter resources.
By receiving this designation, Mount Union reaffirms its commitment to empowering students with the resources and knowledge they need to become active participants in democracy. As the university continues to expand its voter engagement initiatives, it remains dedicated to fostering a campus culture that values informed and engaged citizenship.
