CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina — The University of Mount Union’s Bachelor of Arts Degree in sport business has been ranked as the best degree of its kind in Ohio and tenth in the nation according to Bachelor’s Degree Center (BDC). 

BDC’s methodology for its ranking of the “25 Best Bachelor’s in Sports Management Degree Programs for 2019” is rooted in programs that are accredited from the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation. From there, institutions were ranked based on reputation, cost, return on investment, graduation rate and employment rate. 

Graduates of Mount Union’s sport business program have worked for dozens of professional sports and recreation organizations or continued their education in graduate school. Many of those alumni developed connections through the hands-on learning, internships and networking done through opportunities within the program, such as the Sport Sales Workshop and Job Fairs, which have expanded to Cleveland, Denver and Portland and extended the reputation of the program.

“The success of the sport business program is a team effort of all Mount Union personnel, students, alumni and, of course, the many working professionals who have visited with our students in the classroom, at conferences and at their facilities,” said Dr. Jim Thoma, professor and chair of the Department of Human Performance and Sport Business at Mount Union. “It is truly a team effort to provide a great education!”
