Music Historian Perone to Discuss The Beatles at September “UMU Experts” Luncheon
September 10, 2018ALLIANCE, Ohio – The first “UMU Experts: Lunch Series” event of the 2018-2019 Academic Year will feature Dr. Jim Perone, professor and chair of the Department of Music at the University of Mount Union on Tuesday, September 25 at noon on Mount Union’s campus.
Perone’s discussion is titled, “Beyond The Beatles: There’s More to Music” and will discuss the development of British Invasion rock and roll and the role that economic and social factors played. His presentation will feature audio clips of performances by the legendary rock group and other artists that ushered in their takeover of the music industry.
Perone has written more than a dozen books on music icons such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, David Bowie, Carole King and many others. He is also currently the vice president of The College Music Society.
This is the first event in the UMU Experts: Lunch Series, with two others scheduled to take place Tuesday, October 23 and Tuesday, January 22. Speakers and topics for the other two dates will be announced two weeks prior to each lunch.
The cost to attend the event is $10 and lunch will be provided. Season passes are available for all three dates at a cost of $27.
