We were always encouraged to ask questions and to talk with faculty one on one, and I believe that comfortability as a student is most crucial to optimize our ability to learn.

Why Mount Union?

Mount Union was the number one PA school in Ohio, and I’m convinced they have the best faculty a school could possibly have. What sets Mount Union apart from other schools is the dedicated staff and faculty that makes sure every student will be as successful as possible. The most impactful aspect of Mount Union’s PA program was the safe space they created for us to learn in. We were always encouraged to ask questions and to talk with faculty one on one, and I believe that comfortability as a student is most crucial to optimize our ability to learn.

Current Occupation

now work in an orthopedic clinic with one attending. We do office hours together and I’m his surgical first assist in surgery. Being a PA has gifted me with the ability to see patients in the office, to pre-op, to the OR, to rounding, and to post op visits in the office which gives me such a unique relationship with patients. I love the versatility we have as PAs and the value that we add to clinical practice while working as a team.

Advice to Future PAs

It gets better and there is a light at the end of the (very dark, long, narrow) tunnel! And it is all so worth it. I’ve been a PA for just a year and something I’ve learned is that no matter how much you learn and know, you will always want to compare yourself to others, and that can truly destroy you. Never compare yourself to others but strive to always improve and be a better version of yourself every day.
