Life as a Student-Athlete
The most challenging thing about being a student-athlete is time management. Playing sports and traveling takes a lot of focus at times but it’s possible. I find it fascinating that I get to play my favorite sport while studying to obtain a degree. However, professors and coaches work with you to make your schedule as a student-athlete manageable. I learned about Mount when getting recruited for soccer. But, they also offered the nursing degree, and it was the best of both worlds! I've made friends on and off the field, and tthey're who make Mount Union feel like my second home.
Career Goals
I had surgery in 7th grade on my ankle from an injury. The nurse anesthetist that treated me was super welcoming and made me feel like nothing was wrong. Since then, nursing was just something I could see myself doing. Therefore, I want to further my education to become a nurse anesthetist because I want to offer the same experience to other patients. Mount Union's vigorous program is preparing me to enter the nursing field with hands-on skills. Starting clinicals will allow me to get the real-world experience, working directly with nurses and apply course material on-site.
