Welcome to the Department of Engineering at the University of Mount Union. We offer Bachelor of Science degrees in five engineering majors: mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and biomedical engineering. The mechanical and civil engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, while the other three programs will undergo accreditation after graduating their first classes.
Engineering at the University of Mount Union is undergraduate student-focused and leverages the liberal arts to graduate highly-skilled engineering leaders and entrepreneurs. The placement rate for our graduates exceeds 95%, while approximately 90% of our engineering students had at least one paid internship opportunity before graduating. Our alumni work in a variety of fields ranging from industry (Westinghouse, Goodyear, and Michael Baker) to government (ODOT) to graduate school (Stanford University and the University of Tokyo).
The engineering majors at Mount Union are dynamic and vibrant. We distinguish ourselves in four ways that we call the four pillars of exceptional undergraduate engineering education: extensive hands-on learning, required global engineering experience, effective communication and leadership skills, and integrating business with engineering.
The small classes at Mount Union allow for individual attention and strong bonds between the faculty and their students. Our new state-of-the-art engineering labs are housed in a recently renovated building with modern instrumentation and equipment. Plans are underway to expand our facilities and labs by thousands of square feet to accommodate the new engineering programs.
