The Master of Education program engages candidates in a transformational process of systematic problem solving and data-driven decision-making. The primary aim is to prepare candidates to meet the challenges of leading schools, organizations, communities, and people.

The philosophy of the Master of Education program is to develop leaders to achieve, at a minimum, the following six learning goals:

- The specific learning objectives for educational leadership candidates are:
Teaching and Learning
- Understand and analyze cutting-edge theories and practices of instruction, curriculum development, assessment, and leadership.
- Apply educational research techniques to implement data-driven decision making.
Social Contexts of Education
- Understand how being the agent and beneficiary of school change serves as a vehicle for economic, social, and political equality and liberation.
- Recognize and value that diversity in all forms is an asset to teaching and learning.
Collegiality and Collaboration
- Facilitate effective communication among all parties and stakeholders of the learning community.
- Identify and develop ways to bring people and resources together to change the status quo in schools.
Creativity, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
- Develop the ability to use different modes of thoughts to generate new and dynamic ideas and solutions.
- Prioritize issues and establish practical and achievable action plans which lead to improved teaching and learning.
Managing technology and resources
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the uses of a variety of technological strategies to facilitate learning and administration.
- Design continuous professional development that requires material and human resources to support learning and teaching.
Ethics and Integrity
- Share the belief and understanding that all children will learn.
